Q.
I've inserted the Check strip and the meter displays Er1.
A.
The meter needs to be put into Check mode before you insert
the Check strip, see page 15 of the user manual.
Q. I've inserted a test strip, but
the meter doesn't turn on.
A. It may be because the strip is
not completely inserted in to the test strip port. Insert the strip
gently as far as it will go - the C from CareSens printed on the strip
should disappear into the port.
Check
that the battery is inserted with the +ve side facing up.
Q. I've put in the blood sample, but
the meter doesn't work.
A. Make sure that you have touched
the point of the strip onto your blood sample and the confirmation window
(square) on the strip is full. If you apply the blood to confirmation
window it will not work properly. An Er4 message will appear if
you have not applied enough blood. Insert a fresh strip and redo the
test to get an accurate result.
Q. The test result comes out too high
or too low.
A. Please check whether the code number
on the strip bottle is the same as the number on the screen when you
insert a test strip.
Make
sure the glucose units are set to mmol/L - if they are set to mg/dL
the results will be 18 times higher than mmol/L. Hint
- a mmol/L result will always have a decimal point in the displayed
result.
If the test strip has been left out of the bottle for a long time, it
might affect to the test result. Make sure
that the bottle cap is closed tightly. Use the Check strip (page
15 of the user manual) to make sure the meter is functioning properly,
if it is, try a new bottle of test strips.
If you still get incorrect test results even after following all the
instructions, please call our support line on 1800 114610.
Q. When and how should I use the check
strip?
A. Use the Check strip if you want
to check that your meter is functioning properly (especially if it has
been dropped or jarred). If the Check strip test result is between 5.0
~ 6.1 mmol/L the meter is OK. If the Check strip result is outside
of this range, repeat the Check test again. If it is still out of range,
run the Check test in the other strip port of the meter - if that Check
result is in range then just use that port for testing. If both
ports are out of range please
call our support line on 1800 114610.
Q. What does it mean if the "Lo"
icon appears on the screen?
A. It means that your blood glucose level
is lower than 1.1 mmol/L, and you have extreme hypoglycaemia. If you
get repeated Lo results, consult a healthcare professional.
Q. What does it mean if the "Hi"
icon appears on the screen?
A. It means that your blood glucose level
is higher than 33.3 mmol/L and you have extreme hyperglycaemia. If you
get repeated Hi results, consult a healthcare professional.
Q. What does it mean when my meter
displays a constantly flashing battery symbol?
A. The batteries are running low.
You have enough power left for about 50 tests, but you should replace
the batteries as soon as possible.
Q. What is the measuring range?
A. 1.1 - 33.3 mmol/L
Q. What is the range of hematocrit that
CareSens can give accurate answers?
A. 20~60%
Q. What is the range of temperature that
CareSens can give accurate answers?
A. 10 - 40 °
C
Q. What is the range of relative humidity
that CareSens can give accurate answers?
A. 10 - 90%
Q. What does it mean when an Er1 message
appears?
A. You have inserted a strip that
has been used already. Insert a fresh strip.
Q. What does it mean when an Er2 message
appears?
A. You have applied the blood sample
to the strip before the meter is ready. Repeat the test with a new strip
and wait until you see the flashing drop symbol before applying blood
to the strip.
Q. What does it mean when an Er3 message
appears?
A. The temperature of the system is not
within the recommended range of 10 - 40 °
C . Move the system to an area where the temperature is within
operating range and repeat the test after giving it time to adjust temperature.
Hint - to warm it up quickly hold it in your hand or
put it in your pocket.
Q. What does it mean when an Er4 message
appears?
A. Not enough blood sample loaded into the
strip (the confirmation window should fill with blood) or the blood
loaded too slowly (can be caused by abnormally high blood viscosity).
Repeat the test with a new test strip and adequate blood sample.
